We certainly can not understand how a mother could propose such an idea, but then again, our circumstances have not forced us to entertain such options. In the U.S. during the Depression and also during war time, children were given away when parents couldn’t care for them. In China, babies are dropped off at orphanages. It will be interesting to see how often this question is posed to you over the months you are in your village.

You are living with these wonderful people and right now seeing the world as an 18 year old. When you some day become a mother, her question will take on an entirely new and powerful meaning 🙂
