I have found there are few sensations more riveting than meeting a stranger and connecting over shared experience, particular as related to culture and language. The chance to connect with another in this way is, in my opinion, often worth taking out the (sometimes metaphorical) headphones. You know this already, but this is clearly just the start of your journey. I look forward to following along with (and learning from!) your adventures as they continue to pile up. Next stop: Rwanda!

You have many more of these instances to come. I’m proud to have been part of your journey if only for a little while.

Especially when you run into the challenging moments in the worthy, yet fictions world of academia. Boa sorte.
