This time will broaden your vision of life and people. I, too, broadened my life and vision by living 8+ years abroad, in non-European countries. That you are willing to do this shows you to be a wonderful person. It will change you. Staying out of the American/European culture and its people and influence is quite challenging. It’s rewarding, though. I’m looking forward to your blog. Suspend your beliefs about the United States. Looking from outside gives you a very different picture.

This is really well-written and makes me think back to how avidly I tried to explore all facets of Senegalese life.
