I live in a constant cycle of “I think this,” then “but maybe only because of this,” to “is it even the thing I’m supposed to be thinking,” and “what would I want someone else to think,” etc. you get the point – and it’s exhausting! Personally I have come to the conclusion that I overthink, and it sounds a lot like you do, too. I’m not saying that you should just stop thinking about it so much because the issues you’re raising are legit. But imagine for a moment if everyone thought like that, that everyone was like, I can’t analyse this and present it because I’m afraid it won’t reflect the subject as it is. But that’s impossible in the first place; everything is always misrepresented to some degree, we all interpret things differently, and I think that the fact alone that you’re very aware of this stuff and these risks is enough. You’re not making a documentary about this country, you’re figuring out what it is to you – as long as you feel like you’re being honest in what you write, that you feel that your content reflects not only one part but a variety of parts of your experiences, you’ll be just fine. You cannot control how an audience will interpret and be affected by you, but you can do your best to express yourself genuinely and let them know that your experience is one of many, that they can be entertained and inspired and think critically at the same time. No more of this meta-worrying, start creating, even when you’re afraid and have no idea what you’re trying to say. Just be honest; I know that should be easy for you 🙂 Good luck!
