My granddaughter spent last semester in Capetown, South Africa area. She had a wonderful, amazing experience and is very glad she went. She lived in nice homes, moderate homes and a hut shared by 7 people, 3 beds, no running water or bathroom. They did have a refrigerator and satellite TV though.
I’m sure your trip will have pros and cons but will come down to what you make of it.
