“It’s dark because you are trying too hard. Light child, lightly. Learn to do everything lightly. Yes, feel lightly even when you are feeling deeply. Just lightly let things happen and lightly cope with them. I was so preposterously serious in those days… Lightly, lightly- it is the best advice ever given to me… to throw away your baggage and go forward. There are quicksands all about you, sucking at your feet, trying to suck you down in to fear, and self-pity and despair. That is why you must walk lightly. Lightly my darling.”
-Aldous Huxley, ISLAND
Set the table, plugged my computer. Made so tea, played some music, opened my journal that by the way haven’t done frequently enough lately. And sat with the goal of writing. This, finally, after reading two very nice blogs from my friend Lola in Senegal. I was reminded about how special is the opportunity we have with this platform. Ideas about what to write, I’ve had a few, but honestly, I can’t tell why it has been so hard to find these spaces to arrange and effectively write and share a bit of the multiple and diverse occurrences of our everyday. This is why a have a couple of post-it lists of the blog titles and spare ideas of all these things that have been a part of my days here.
I would even say it gets more and more difficult to write about ‘new’ things as time passes because certainly, we get more used to them. But so it is as important to keep the awe sense alive, the gratefulness and -perspective- as present as possible. It is a fact that I’ve thought a lot about what I wanted to write, how will my whole blog page look like, and then I added the weight of wanting to translate it what ended up just on contributing to postpone any writing just by imagining how much time would I have to invest. All in all, I thought this quote I shared at the begging of the post is how I have wanted to take different aspects of my life since I found it. Certainly, this blog project and would have loved to have had the idea more present when facing the different challenges that I’ve faced throughout this year, lightly.
.
Why are we even thinking about what will people think about it even before we post anything? It is always important to be considerate about what you’re posting and who is involved in the writing because there might be other means of channeling your intentions. Keeping in mind this is sort of a long-lasting record. In the end, it is as open up to creativity that I’m even writing a blog on writing. No, but seriously there is no excuse.
In the end, I want to encourage anyone reading regardless of the stage of your cycle, or even if you’re not a fellow, to just create… Write, paint, craft, edit, perform… I really love it when reading other fellow fellows posts and getting to see a bit of the immensely different experiences we are going through. Actively feed this platform as the awesome opportunity to express, share, and later on to look back. Even if you are just about to start, on the way, or even very close to the end, just do it! Take time, as well, to appreciate others efforts and contribute to more supportive, vulnerable and growing communities. Don’t be ashamed of caring, but don’t take it too seriously, this for your own well being. Take it lightly even if when you’re facing depth. One step at a time.
Lots of love!
